This course will cover general trauma principles such as shock, fluid resuscitation, systemic inflammatory response syndrome, damage control orthopaedics, fat embolism syndrome, compartment syndrome, deep vein thrombosis, and care of the pregnant patient. It will also review pelvic ring injuries including lateral compression, anterior-posterior compression, vertical shear, ilium fractures as well as non-operative and operative treatment.Upper extremity trauma including sternoclavicular dislocation, clavicle and scapula fractures,  acromioclavicular injuries, shoulder dislocation, superior shoulder suspensory complex, olecranon and coronoid fractures, humeral and forearm fractures as well as Monteggia and Galeazzi variants.

This course will cover the diagnosis and management of lower extremity trauma including acetabular fractures, hip dislocations, femoral head and neck fractures, intertrochanteric and subtrochanteric femur fractures, femoral shaft and distal femur fractures, knee dislocations, patellar fractures, tibial plateau, shaft and plafond fractures as well as ankle, talus, and calcaneal fractures.

This course will review gait dynamics and mechanics, amputations, prosthetics, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury.
